Crusaders Baseball - 2023
The Historic St. Paul’s Crusaders baseball team play in the LANS League. The league is comprised of 8 teams this year, and it's a 3 pitch baseball league with 1 umpire officiating and 9 full innings. We play from May 23rd until the weekend after Labour Day. The Crusaders play every Tuesday evening from 6:45 until around 8 or 8:30.
The league has a mid season tournament on Saturday July 8th and an end of season tournament on Saturday Sept 9th. The regular season game standings determine whether you are in Group A or Group B for the tournaments. It is an amateur league so no professionals are allowed to play. We are always looking for new players, so reach out to our office if you’re interested in joining. See you out on the diamond!
2023 Season:
Year End Tournament 2023
This past Saturday on Sept 9th, the Crusaders played our year end ball tournament at Peter Hallman Fields. We won our first 2 games in the morning and then played a semifinal game in the early afternoon. We won the semifinal game and played in the finals against the Silver Bullets immediately after. After getting behind by 5 runs early, we fought back and tied the game late forcing extra innings. They took lead again and this time we came up a little short and lost in the end. This Crusaders team has a lot of heart and we always battle very hard every game. It is a joy to play on this team.
Congratulations Crusaders on a well played tournament and another fun season. A special thanks also goes out to our coach Steve Klages. He does all the coordination and supplies all the necessary items so we are able to put a team out there every week. Plus he's a great player and coach too. See everyone next year!

Game 14 - Aug 29
RECAP: On August 29th, the Crusaders played our last regular season game against the Silver Bullets. We got off to a slow start, but as usual we battled back. The Silver Bullets made some amazing defensive plays to keep us from scoring runs when we needed them. In the end, we lost 13-9. They also had an ace in the hole who filled in on her daughter's team and had some timely hits.
Next week we play the first game of our Year End Tournament on Tuesday, September 5th. We follow that up with the rest of the tournament on Saturday, Sept 9th. We are guaranteed 3 games and possibly a 4th if we make it to the Finals on that Saturday. Please come out and support our team. Parking is limited, but there is excess parking available across the street at the Activa Sports Complex.

Game 13 - Aug 22
RECAP: On Aug 22nd, the Crusaders played the Benchwarmers. The best way to describe the game was it felt like a roller coaster. It had its share of ups, downs, twists, and turns. We started the 1st inning with a 4 run lead and were doing well for 3 innings. Then the bottom fell out for the next 3 innings. When it started to look like we turned a corner, the bottom fell out again. In the end we lost 16-6. Like always whether we win or lose, we always have fun and enjoy time with each other at Dairy Queen, after the game.
Next week we play the Silver Bullets, at the Bridgeport Sport Fields, in our final game before the year end tournament. See you next week.

Game 4 - Jun 13
UPDATE: Due to a change in rules for 2023, this game was considered complete, the Cardinals won 5-4. Your Crusaders now move to 2-2 for the season.
RECAP: The Crusaders played their 4th game of the season or we should say attempted to play our 4th game of the season, against the Cardinals. The weather cleared up enough for the start of the game. It looked like it was going to hold off enough to get at least the minimum 5 innings in required to call it a complete game. However, the rain started up again only heavier. It turned our field into a muddy mess in a short period of time. The game was called after 3 innings, which was a blessing for our team as we were behind anyway. Thank you to a few fans who came out to support us and got a little wet like the rest of us. Next week we play at the Bridgeport Rod and Gun Club ball diamonds on Beitz Rd, near Conestoga. We should all be dried off by then.
See you next week.
