Current Status: Paused for 2024/25 Season
(Mondays: 1:30p to 3:00p)
Community Cupboard
This weekly drop-in program, which began in 2011, offers food hampers, clothing (and sometimes other items). Typically it operates during the cold-weather months. Check the Events Calendar for scheduling and details.
Due to safety concerns on site with construction taking place, Community Cupboard will be closed for the 2024/25 season. See full update below.
Guests attending Community Cupboard should be prepared to show Photo ID and proof of Kitchener/Waterloo residency.
2024/25 Season Update
On behalf of the Council and leadership of Historic St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, we would like to provide an update on our important Community Cupboard program for the 2024/25 season.
After much prayer and thoughtful consideration, we have come to the difficult decision to pause Community Cupboard for this upcoming season. The decision was not a financial one, as we had the assets allocated for this season; but rather a decision based on the safety of our volunteers and guests. With the current changes on site, we could not come up with a satisfactory plan that we felt would ensure safety week in and week out.
We thank you for your continued prayer and support for Community Cupboard, and we wanted to be transparent with the current status of the program. At this time, we will hold off on accepting items and donations to Community Cupboard, until further notice.
The future is still bright for Community Cupboard, and the addition of Affordable Housing has always been seen as a complement to our cupboard program – allowing us to continue to serve our community with food and clothing in the future, while adding housing on top of that. We will revaluate the Community Cupboard program again, ahead of our 2025/26 season.
Should you have any questions, please reach out to us at any time.
About Community Cupboard
Our Community Cupboard Program has been serving our community faithfully for over eleven years. We serve the Lord by treating all who come through our doors with God's love. We are open every Monday from 1:30pm until 3:00pm. Enter via the door (#2) located around the back of the building, beside the parking lot. Community Cupboard will run this year until March 2024 and then re-open in the Fall of 2024. We have a variety of food for you to choose from, both perishable and non-perishable, from bacon and eggs to cereal and cheese to peanut butter to name a few. Also, available for you is a selection of gently used clothing and other various items that are continually changing.
Donations of Food and Clothing
We have been graciously blessed by the support of this program with donations from our sister Churches and people from the community. If you have donations to bring to the church, you may do so Tuesday to Thursday from 9:00am until 1:00pm.
