Construction Parking Plan Begins July 21st

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Pre-construction activities will begin on site starting tomorrow, July 9th. These include relocating of hydro services to the parsonage, and natural gas services to the church. Shoring work will also be completed along the ramp to the office door, this week.

We expect construction fencing to go up on or about July 15th. Following this, we will start to see some work on the existing retaining wall between the Benton parking lot, and also some leveling work on the site, ahead of prestaging.

We have received our conditional pre-approval for financing from CMHC, and we are very close to finalizing the lot severances. This will allow for our final site plan, and building permit approvals. We have over 85% of the trades lined up and ready to get to work. We are currently on track to begin construction this summer.

PARKING UPDATE
With the construction site set to be fenced off starting on July 15th, we will be moving to our Construction Parking Plan, starting on Sunday, July 21st. See below the attached map for your reference. All of the entrances to the church will remain accessible and open on Sundays, during construction.

1) We will have some temporary parking spots added near the Church Street door, we ask you to save these on Sundays for those who cannot walk as far, we plan to have someone manning the Church Street door to let people in, so the walking distance is shorter than the old handicap spots were. These spots can be used by staff during the week.

2) We have negotiated with the owners of 132 Queen St (across the street at the old Schlicthers place) to use this parking lot after 5:30p on weekdays, and Sunday mornings. Please do not park in the spots along the wooden fence, all other spots are available to us.

3) There will remain some limited parking spots around the parsonage and outside the Narthex doors in the pull off area.

4) The City is setting up temporary parking at the old Charles Street Bus Terminal, and this will be available at all times, along with other City lots.

5) For those who would like to try out the ION train, the stop is one block away on Charles Street.

6) We continue to speak with neighbours, and are working on a few more options as well.
