"Birdies for Charity" supporting Community Cupboard

Each summer a famous golf tournament comes to Waterloo, and this year the Community Cupboard will benefit.CC logo

How?  “Birdies for Charity” is a program run in connection with the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic to support local charities.  This year our Community Cupboard is one of them.  Manulife Financial provides the rewards (read on!) and a simple way for donors to give—and the Community Cupboard receives 100% of donations collected for it.  All donations will receive a tax receipt.

How Can I Participate?

  • Make a pledge.  Donors can pledge $0.02 or more “per birdie” to the Community Cupboard.  (A birdie is when the golfer makes a hole with one stroke fewer than “par” for that hole.)  When the tournament is over, all the birdies made by all the golfers will be added up.  Last year there were about 1,400 birdies.  So, for example, a pledge of $0.02 per birdie would mean a donation of around $28.

Want a free pass to a day at the tournament?  Be one of the first 25 people to pledge at least $0.07 per birdie to the Community Cupboard, and we’ll offer you one!  Thanks, Manulife!  The tournament runs July 10-14, 2013 at the Grey Silo Golf Course in Waterloo.

  • Make a flat donation of $15 or more to the Community Cupboard.

Enter Manulife’s “Guess the Birdies” contest to win a TaylorMade RocketBallz Stage 2 Driver.  Winner will be drawn from all entrants who guess the correct number of birdies made at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic.

You Are the Light of the World: Being a Christian in a Non-Christian High School

~ May 24 - 26, 2013 ~

Christian teens will meet at Historic St. Paul's this Spring for a unique weekend of learning, fellowship . . . and plenty of the fun you'd expect at a youth retreat.

We're pleased to have Pastor Larry Gajdos, East District Mission Exec, as our session leader.  Discussions and devotions will address the challenges—and the incredible opportunities!—faced by Christian youth in today's secularized culture.

Cost for the weekend, including all meals, is $40.

Dave Horn Benefit Concert: Sunday, April 14th 2013 at 7 p.m. at Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church (137 Queen St. S. Kitchener). All proceeds from a free-will offering go to the Community Cupboard.
