Recycling Program Expands

Cash4Cans Recycling Fundaiser for Community Cupboard
Here's a simple way to support the Community Cupboard and care for the environment.

It's not just pop cans anymore!

Reg's recycling program, Cash4Cans, now accepts all kinds of metal-containing items.  Whether you've got broken tools lying around the garage, strings of Christmas lights that don't work anymore, old metal pipes and fixtures after a bathroom reno . . . or just about anything that contains metal (including pop cans), volunteers are ready to turn it into funds for the Community Cupboard.  You may be surprised how valuable your "junk" is.

Cash4Cans has also partnered with ThinkRecycle to safely recycle your e-waste (e.g., cell phones, computers, printers).

All funds raised go to provide food and winter clothing for the Community Cupboard.

Visit Reg's website at www.cash4cans.net for details and contact information.  The site includes a running tally of funds raised, and pounds of recyclables diverted from the landfill.

New Wednesday Evening Study

Posted on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 04:09 PM

New for the Winter 2013 term of Manna is a Bible study centred around a book entitled The Spirituality of the Cross.  Insightful and readable, this book gets at the very heart of what Christianity is and isn't.  Author Gene Veith's own decades-long search for meaning and peace makes him sympathetic to anyone who finds today's religious "options" hopelessly confusing and unsatisfying.  Veith writes:book-cover

The study takes place in the Luther Room (downstairs) on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. after the Manna meal.  No need to have a copy of the book: instructor Rev. Dr. Roger Winger will lead us through it.  This class will be of interest to adults and teens.  All welcome, anytime!
